Acrylic Workshop with Norman Rossiter May 2018

Here are the photos from our latest workshop. We had a very enjoyable and productive day.

Our tutor, Norman, demonstrated at different stages for us so that we could then go away and work on our individual pantings. We painted the Woodpecker in the morning and the Tiger in the afternoon. Norman gave us lots of advice such as consistency of paint to use as we build up the layers (starting with a ‘milky’ consistency and finishing with ‘double cream’ ) We mostly used a flat 1/2 inch brush working on canvas. Norman had a range of work on display, have a look at his website:-

Norman was able to come and advise us individually throughout the day, he was an excellent tutor.

We all came away with two paintings, maybe with some work still to do but having learnt some new skills along the way.

Coloured pencils continued – May 2018

For our Wednesday evening session we used coloured pencils again, using hints and tips that we learnt at Alex Roch’s workshop in April.

Some people used watercolour pencils and others used their coloured pencils to sketch out then colour their picture . One picture from a couple of years ago was completed using new pencils with more pigment in, for a more vibrant finish.

Several people found it enjoyable to just bring along their pencils and a sketch book, instead of bringing a big bag stuffed with lots of art equipment!

Some members painted landscapes in their favourite medium of watercolours…
