January & February 2017

Wednesday 11th   7-9pm   –   Pablo Picasso said “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life”

Mentally brush the dust off yourself and get ready for a year full of art. Bring along your sketch books or paper, your pencils and pens, to sketch your ideas and jot down what you’d like create in 2017. Write down 3 things you’d like to improve upon…drawing, oils, complimentary colours, portraits, a brand new medium?

Our first meeting of the year is also a time to catch up with friends, so please come along for a cuppa and a natter too.

Saturday 28th 10.00am -3.30pm – Winter White

Hopefully it won’t be snowing, but come along and paint a winter scene including snow. Before recycling all your Christmas cards, choose a few of your favourite snow scene cards for inspiration. Paint just the one, or a few, using any medium.

Leave watercolour paper white for the snow highlights. Look at snow in shadow, it can be blue, lilac or grey, depending on how strong the daylight is. A sunset on snow can make the snow glow red, orange and yellow, so your winter whites may actually be quite colourful.

The fee for today is £6.

Also on Saturday 28th – bring and buy sale

Did you get new art supplies for Christmas? Have you sorted out your art boxes or storage recently?

Bring along any items which you no longer need. Label clearly with your name and £price or £offer. Place on the table supplied and have a look to buy anything new to you, then give the money to the person on the label. At the end of the day you can keep the money, give to a charity of your choice or donate to general club funds. No catches, you just have to take home any items of yours that are on the table at the end of the day.

Wednesday 8th   7-9pm  –  Moonlight

Paint a picture of moonlight using any medium. Consider starting with blue or black paper and using pastels or chalk to define the moonlight.

Saturday 25th   10.00am-3.30pm   –   Watercolour workshop with Anthony Nield

A new artist for M&C, Anthony is coming to run our first workshop of the year. His style of painting can be found on his website… anthonynield.com . The subject we will be painting will be confirmed nearer the date.

The fee for today is £14.00.

Please use a booking form and post to Susan, or email or phone her asap to book your place.
