March & April Newsletter

We hope that you enjoy the subjects we have for our meetings….but if there is a subject that you don’t want to paint, you don’t have to….they’re just ideas to inspire you, so please come along anyway to enjoy a cuppa, have a natter and ‘do your own thing’.

Wednesday 12th   7-9pm    –  Pastels

We all seem to have a box of pastels amongst our art materials, so let’s dust them off and use them this evening.  Use oil or soft pastels to create a picture of any subject…..just explore this colourful medium to see what you can produce.  If anyone has already done any pastel pictures, please can you bring them along for us to look at?

A useful website with an amazing gallery to look at for inspiration belongs to the UK Pastel Society –

Saturday 22nd 10am-3.30pm   –  Acrylic Workshop with Simon Savage

Kent artist Simon Savage last painted with us 2 years ago, so today we are pleased to welcome him back to paint a landscape.  Simon’s online gallery can be found on his website

Wednesday 9th   7-9pm  –   Spring Competition –  any medium

The theme this year is ‘KENT’.  There is no right or wrong interpretation to this theme, simply how you would like to paint our wonderful county.  A seascape, landscape, cityscape, lone walkers, commuter masses, wildlife, spring blossom, summer fun, autumn colours, bleak mid-winter…..the variety of possible subjects is endless.

Our yearly competition is a very friendly affair and is NOT compulsory….if you do not want to enter a picture for judging, please just use ‘Kent’ as inspiration for a painting.

Saturday 26th 10am-3.30pm   –   Spring Competition  continued.

Continue with your Kent picture, or paint another.  All pictures to be in by 3pm, when we can all cast one vote for our favourite painting.
